Mulherin Custodial tries to make available
to their residents any and all activities in which they can take part and which
will bring them happiness. Following
are some of the activities in which they take part:
School age residents attend Augusta Evans
Public School and older residents go to MARC for training purposes, if they are
capable of benefiting from training.
Those who are able attend church, attend
camp, play soft ball in Adaptive Soft ball leagues, swimming in the summer, go
on field trips and outings, picnics, take part in school activities, Special
Olympics, Mardi Gras festivities, bowling, eating out and other special
occasions as they arise.
Each resident’s birthday is celebrated
with a party and decorations are put up in the Home for every special day.
The in-house celebrations include all
residents, including bed patients in order that they have feeling of being
included in the family life of Mulherin.
All residents, who are able, are assigned
special chores around the Home, and they guard their “job” zealously and take
pride in their accomplishments.
One of our residents has, for many years,
taken part in the United Way Rallies at the various businesses in Mobile and
has been recognized for his outstanding contribution to this work.
The above are a sampling of activities
provided for the enjoyment of our residents and as things arise, which we think
they will enjoy, we quickly incorporate them in our activities.
